When creating a memorial for someone that has passed on,left us, I always try to learn a little bit about the individual and attempt to include something personal that was cherished in their life helping share the memory of them. For this particular memorial the client had a heart stone that she wanted to use. I collected a bunch of rocks that all had different looks for the client to choose from. This particular client picked out her rocks and laid out a design that brought her comfort and imbued a characteristic reminiscent of her son. Originally, she requested her son’s name engraved into the stone; ultimately, she went with a brass plaque attached to stone base.
Small Garden Memorial
Clients provided a base rock and a heart shaped stone rock that their loved one had cherished. Placement for this piece was a small garden area; they desired a small, simple reminder of their loved one. I selected a V-shaped piece of driftwood and attached it to the base lodging the heart stone into the center of the V, representing the presence of the loved one’s heart always floating nearby and watching over them eternally.
